GRANT PARK PLAYERS present “Ordinary People” February 10- 19, 2012

South Milwaukee, Wisconsin— The Grant Park Players Community Theatre performing at the South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center will present the dramatic production Ordinary People February 10, 11, 17, 18 at 7:30 p.m., and at 4 p.m. February 19. Tickets are available at the door for $10 adults and Senior/ Students $8.00 or by contacting the South Milwaukee PAC box office. Audience members should be aware the play deals with issues of depression and suicide.

The play is based on Judith Guest’s 1976 novel Ordinary People, which was made into a 1980 Academy Award-winning film. The Grant Park Players production is directed by Denise Kujawa of South Milwaukee. She said the play centers around Conrad Jarrett, a young man whose older brother has died in a sailing accident, which Conrad survived. The play begins after Conrad has spent eight months in a psychiatric hospital, having earlier attempted suicide. As Conrad returns to the real world, he struggles to make sense of himself and everyone around him. “We follow the footsteps of a young man, his friends and family, their relationships and their survival,” Kujawa said.

Grant Park Players is now in their fourth season and gaining recognized as one of the best community theatres in the area. The group currently produces four productions per year.
